Biggest Day of the Year

Posted in Uncategorized on August 24, 2008 by ltsmasher

Well its here, the biggest day of the year.  This day sets the tone for the next 4 months, and years to come.  Its the same time every year and is the biggest day of the year every year.  I spend days in preparation for this day, studying, reading, preparing mentally and physically.  Its both physically and mentally challenging and by the end of the day, i will be ready for bed.  What day is it, Fantasy Draft day. OH Yeh, thats right.  Its a day where the same 10 guys get together for a battle of the mind, trying to outwit and outdraft, finding those sleepers that nobody else knows about, gritting your teeth when the guy before you drafts your player and screws up   your strategy.  Man I can’t wait.

Cigarettes

They should not allow you to buy cigarettes in the express lane at the grocery store. There is nothing express about it. They have to go clear to the otherside of the store to get it they always ask last. “oh and can I get a pack of camel menthols please” and the whole line sighs. Rediculous.

I have been thinking the past few weeks it would be cool on our stage to use a vintage upright piano but gut it and put in a digital controller and use Logic to run our sounds and loops, so I am going to work on that to show our music director so she can get a visual off it.  I will put more details as I go along, but here is a rough version  before it gets cleaned up.

I thought I was dead

Posted in Holy Crap on July 23, 2008 by ltsmasher

So I am in Coeur D’ Alene Idaho for the next two days with my roomate David driving the boat for Fairwoods Youth Camp, which is less fun than it sounds cause its alot of work and alot of responsibility watching over everybody who isn’t used to a boat and tube ropes, it can get quite exhausting. Well about an hour into pulling tubers, the boat started acting funny and going slow. And we knew that there was some water in the hull as we have had this happen before. I usually forget to put the plug in the bottom of the boat which keeps the water out. Well, I didn’t forget to put the plug in, but while we were driving the plug came out and started to full the boat. Now at this point there wasn’t a whole lot of water in there, but we couldn’t find the plug, cause it sits in the bottom of the engine, so I get down and start feeling around the engine, scraping my hand and burning it, while David gets the other people in the boat to get life jackets on and getting ready to call the other boat to come get us. I finally found it, but we were maybe 5 minutes from abandoning the boat. I have had one or two close calls, but this was by far the closest. My heart was beating like 180 bpm for at lest 30 minutes after that. Everything is ok and we had to sit there for half hour while we waited for the boat to empty, but that was intense, and since I am alive and the boat is still on the trailer, in hindsight it is a good blog story.

Dark Knight

If you are one of the few who have not seen the new Batman Dark Knight, the I would suggest you go see it. Amazing, I had to keep reminding myself that Heath Ledger was the joker he was sooth good. And on another note, the new theater at Southcenter is quite amazing too, no leather seats like Lincoln Square, but the all digital projectors looked amazing, definatly a good place to go watch a movie.
